G. Davis Cathcart
I’m an illustrator currently residing in Ridgewood, Queens NYC and a born and raised New Yorker. In 2012 I graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration, before that I interned with The New Yorker and worked in fine arts at The Bronx Museum of Art as well as in the studios of William Wegman and Maira Kalman. I’ve also spent a good amount of time as an art conservator for The Calder Foundation. Recently I’ve worked as an Illustrator for the fashion industry working with Walmart, Amazon, Target, and so on. I’m a true story addict and I’m always willing to go in depth on discussions about film, comics/zines and books. Drawing is something I do on a daily basis and if I skip it I become moody, temperamental and anxious. I make short stories with my friends and web comics on a semi regular basis. I long to reach a wider audience with my stories and make them more digestible for the masses. I tend to try to tell stories that tether high brow and low brow into something fun and relatable.
