Alana Corwin

Animator

it doAlana is a tap dancing animator who likes to make things move and bring stories to life.

Originally from Providence, Rhode Island, Alana earned her degree in Theater and Communication studies from URI which led her to a position in Event Marketing. From there, she moved to Stockholm, Sweden where she explored her own art as a dancer & illustrator. While there, she sought funding for and created Art as  Refuge, and art therapy program for refugee families seeking a new home in Sweden. When her visa ran out, she returned to Rhode Island to  pursue her love of animation and children’s book illustration at Rhode Island School of Design. She is currently enrolled at SVA in the MFA program to explore and further develop her animation and story-telling skills.

Her work  is a mix of traditional and digital media and draws its inspiration from the minds of children, nature, and social & global issues.  She is rarely caught wearing color, is in love with children’s books, poetry, everything about trees, and immerses herself in all things sushi.

Alana’s mentor is Catya Plate.
